p1762 & O2 Sensors
I recently installed a brand new PATC Viper series 2 transmission in my 96 ram 1500 5.2l. I also installed a new PCM with my VIN. Trucks been driving fine but today I got a p1762 (solenoids/overdrive band) code. Theres no way it could be tranny related as the tranny is only a few weeks old. I remember seeing on here something about how the 02 sensors share the same voltage as the solenoid and can cause it to not shift correctly. My question is, should I replace both o2 sensors or just the upstream?

There are only two bands in the trans, and neither one is for O/D..... Not sure what it is whining about there......
O2 sensors *shouldn't* have anything to do with it.... but, stranger things have happened.....
Seems that someone on another forum..... changed the governor pressure sensor and solenoid, and that cleared the code. He also had 5.9, and 46RE....
Seems weird to me.... but, there it is.

I was getting the same p1762 code(governor pressure offset volts high or low) before I bought the new transmission. How could this be coming up when the transmission is brand new? Also, there have been post on here in the past where people have said a faulty upstream o2 sensor could affect this because they share the same reference voltage as the governor pressure solenoid. I’m stumped…

Front O2 just clues the PCM in to current fuel mixture. Theoretically, you could drive it forever unplugged, and the PCM would just use it's tables to determine fueling. Gas mileage will suffer, and it won't pass an emissions test, but, that's about the extent of it.
I think the rear O2 sensor draws on the 5 volt feed as well.

Have a look at this. The governor pressure sensor sends a signal back to the pcm to tell it what the speed is(voltage). If you look at page 36 here it goes over the pressure sensor. Figure 52 shows you what the voltage reading per speed should be. I suspect a bad connection somewhere that is throwing off the reading the pcm is seeing and throwing the code.
