Hello I have a 98 1500 v6 2wd that has a bad trans my buddy has a 96 1500 v8 2wd he just wrecked and totaled but has a new trans would the one from the 96 fit in my 98? He was gonna give it to me as long as it would work
they are both automatic 2wd

 

Should bolt right in, and hook right up. It'll be physically larger than your stock trans, but, it will fit.

 

What year did the transmission electronics change?

 

2000.
