Default 1997 Doge Ram 1500 4+4 5.9 litre shift lever adjustment

So my shift lever for the automatic transmission needs adjustment It goes into Park , Reverse and Neutral and Drive but that’s as far as it gets it will not go and further down to lower gears. It feels loose on the steering column. I backed up on a
hill and it would not go into drive. So I’m researching how to adjust it cuz I don’t want to get stuck somewhere out in the bush here in Canada.. thanks

Start with an inspection, sounds like you have some worn bushings in there.

Well tyvm but where? Hopefully not in the transmission itself but I don’t see any bushings in the linkage
