Default Brush Guard for 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Soort

I’m looking for a brush guard to put on my newly acquired 2001 dodge ram 1500 5.9l v8 4x4 sport. Being new to this truck (and trucks in general) I’ve noticed some companies say that their brush guards won’t work on sport models. I have been unable to locate if there is a difference in the 2001 dodge ram and 2001 dodge ram sport (other than the sticker that says sport). Any help is appreciated.

I have a Westin brush guard on the front of my truck. I bought it used off Craigslist many years ago and it didn't have the mount pieces with it, so I got the part numbers from Westin and ordered the mount parts from Summit Racing. The top mounts kinda wrapped around the top of the bumper on each side with a 90 degree end to allow the brush bar to bolt up to them. The bottom mounts are nothing more than a couple of pieces of 90 degree steel with holes in each end. They bolt up to some bushings on each side of the lower front of the truck and allow for the lower bolts of the brush bar to bolt up.

With a sport truck's bumper, I'm not sure if the top mounts for the brush bar would work or not.

Bumper is different on the Sport model trucks. Standard mounts won't work, not without some modification at least.....

I can't find anything that fits sport trucks.... they ALL say "Except Sport"......

Yea the sport bumper frame is pretty unique as well as the shape. I'd say minimum to get a regular brush guard to fit would be notching the lower valance area plastic on a sport bumper. Possibly also the top, brush guards also typically follow bumper contour so this may also provide another fitment issue.

If your truck for some reason already has the chrome bumper, has an older sport bumper (same shape as steel but color matched) or was never a sport (stickers added by someone) then you should be able to fit your typical standard brush guard. The sport bumper frame "wings" are a common rust off piece, and the plastic in general is weak without support, so its very possible you already have a standard bumper
