Default Daytime running lights

I was messing with fuses this weekend and accidently plugged one into a slot labeled DTR. My headlights turned on and the only thing I could do was pull the fuse to turn them off. Now, there are labeled fuse slots for things my truck doesn't have, like an engine heater for a diesel. But those slots only have 1 contact point if you look down into it, rather than two in the other slots. The DTR slot has 2 and actually does something if you jam a fuse in it apparently. I don't think I have DTR; I replaced the headlight housings and nothing about them looked like they have DTR and I've never seen a sensor I'd assume it would need to kick on.

However, the fancy housings I installed DO have DTR. The wires are currently just dangling there doing nothing useful. I had considered tapping them in to the turn signal/running lights lines so they pop on with the running lights and blink with the signals.

You guys think I could rig up DTR though? I know mysterious problems tend to happen when you go screwing around trying to get fancy with the electrical system. Any of you ever done that? How big of a headache was it?

Daytime running lights weren't a requirement in the US back then. They were in Canada though, and maybe other markets.... There is no sensor for them though, basically, with DTR's, if the engine is running, the lights are on. (and it may be if the ignition is on, so are the lights.....) Personally, I wouldn't bother with them.

I appreciate the reply. Yeah, I'll just leave them; better to not tempt fate, right? I've got enough problems as it is with this thing lol.

Fate has a tendency to give in to temptation. I try and avoid giving her the opportunity. Makes life easier.

Daytime running lights: If it's daylight, Reach over to the headlight switch and tun it on! When i installed my alarm/remote start it had a sensor for drl's but i didn't want them. Had to see what the sensor was reading at full sun up and put a resistor in it's place to do away with them.
