Default PCM Information

Hopefully there isn’t a sticky note about PCMs that I missed. Is so please point me in that direction. My 2001 Ram 1500 Sport with the 5.9 has had idle air control valve issues intermittently for some time. New sensors don’t help, throttle body has been cleaned and wires all Ohm out good. I’ve determined that it’s got to be a bad PCM. I need help on figuring out where to order a replacement. I looked into flagship one but decided against them based on reviews. Does anyone have a reputable source to get a replacement? Should I just try and get AutoZone to figure out how to order one? Last time I tried they seemed clueless.

You need the PCM part number of your existing PCM, along with the VIN number so that the PCM folks can flash your VIN into the new PCM. That should do it..

ALL of them have horrid reviews. Solo PCM is reportedly pretty good, but, I have no personal experience with them. When I need one, I go to my local parts store, yeah, the are usually Cardone remans, which ain't really a vote of confidence, but, if I have issues with it, I can go and talk to a live human being, and get a warranty replacement fairly easy.

Appreciate the information and help. Looks like I’ll be getting one from a parts store soon.

I got one on eBay recently for $150. Sent them my vin, they flashed it and seems to be working well so far (sadly unknown miles on it. I forgot what company will repair them for around the same price but thinking about doing that for a spare since I live in hot desert climate and these jdms hate heat.
