Default 2001 ram 2500, 340 code

I have a 2001 ram 2500 360 v8, it has left me standed 3 times by not fireing, after 30 to 45 minutes of trying, it starts, it comes up with 340 code on dash, looks to be cam sensor comunication , is it a bad cam sensor? Or wiring problem? Any help would be greatly apprecative! I just recently joined here, i have 3 2nd gen ram trucks, they been so great, tough and reliable up until this one

Good question. Could be either wiring or the sensor. Should be able to test the sensor to see if it shows up bad or not and/or continuity test for the wiring..

P0340 is a circuit code. With the problem resolving after some cooldown I would think it's the sensor itself though. It's similar to the issue in the video I linked this thread: https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...overrated.html

The rotor can get a pretty good grip on the distributor shaft. If it's already broken, just break it some more till it comes off.

Also, if it is hanging on that tight, that implies its been there for a while.... and you might consider replacing the cap and the rotor.....
