1997 dodge ram 2500 5.9 crankshaft position sensor, does it really need to be OEM?

Need to know what is missing. Are you getting spark to the plugs? Do you have fuel pressure? Are you getting injector pulse?

Not sure, will check this weekend for fire and fuel, what sensors tell the computer not to start the truck, will replace the crankshaft position sensor with a OEM sensor this weekend along with distributor pickup ( camshaft sensor)
