Default questions about u-joint and performance problems in my dodge ram 2500 4x4 1998

dodge ram 2500 4x4 1998, V8 5.9 automatic

I recently lowered the FRONT PROPELLER SHAFT and changed 3 u-joints but one of the u-joints did not fit in the front yoke. Can you give me the measurements of the u-joint? I would need the measurements, much more than a part number

(to my bad luck the drums came off the u-joint)

and taking advantage of this post another doubt/problem

Well, after lowering the gearbox to change a Freeze plug, a gearbox that was stupidly weak, I half-solved it by adjusting the TPS (which I don't really know if I got it right) and looking for the values that the online tps has to have, I saw that it has to be between 0.55v and 4.5v. but I couldn't make it go down and up more than 0.70v and 4.1v.

And here is my question: what can I do to solve this, since it also continues to carbonize new spark plugs (-6000km or 3728 miles), and it still does not have full strength

Sorry if you don't understand me well, I translated it into English with Google, maybe it's not expressed well at all.

Can you tell us what u-joint you tried to fit? I'm wondering if you got one of the stupid Dodge crossover joints that use a half c-clip on the cap itself. Those are usually rear pinion only.

I thought the 3/4 tons were 1330 front u-joints, so a 1330 is 1.062" cap dia and 3.625" across the caps. It's symmetrical so this is true on both crosses.

TPS values are listed as min/max. So long as your ranges between those two values, and the PCM knows what the 'zero' value is, it's all good.

If you are fouling plugs, you are running rich, so, either a bad O2 sensor, clogged cat, or leaky injectors.

I suppose it's the first one you said, do you know the measurement?

Only Dodges used it?

Will they be unique to this model?

They do not have a standard/universal numbering

You can look up from https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...sal+joint,2392, they have measurements on their listings. I had same issue when I replaced the front u-joint, first one I bought didn't have those inner clips.

That's most likely a 458 u-joint. I prefer the 458BF (Brute Force) to get non-greaseable. The dims and interchange numbers are here, HOWEVER note their "length axis 2" is from inner clip to inner clip, not cap to cap OAW

AFAIK only Dodge used these and they're stupid. Absolutely no reason for this design, and everyone knows those half-clips are weak (also true of D44 front axle joints).

I do, however, keep a couple 458BFs on the shelf because they're difficult to obtain on short notice. There's also a "baby" version of this dumb design I recently installed in a '93 B150 (van) with the 3.9

Not sure if this will help, You used to be able to look up the exact part you wanted but they changed the site and this is all you get. U joints are about half way down.
