Default New Headers??!

I have had powder coated, shorty, pacesetter headers for about 6-7 years... They have always held a lot of heat so I put some higher quality gaskets on there and that fixed the problem... now, however the welds on the headers have started to crack and I am hearing the same type of ticking... I haven't noticed a lot of change in the gas mileage... I do think my performance has dropped off a little but it is hard to tell since I drive it every day and haven't ran it at the track in a good long while...

anyway I was wondering if anyone has any advice on what header setup to go with... is it worth it to find long tube headers? should I go stainless or powder coated? is there a brand that works much better with the dodge ram?

some additional info:

it is a 96 ram 5.9 liter, I have the k&n cold air intake set-up, and 3" gibson exhaust one pipe...

thanks for your suggestions...

I got a little bit of power with my gibson exhaust... I wonder if maybe the exhaust is designed to work better with the gibson headers...

I have had good luck with the Edelbrock TES headers. They are mid length stainless. 9yrs old now, never a leak or issue with them. I didnt get them coated so they have the ugly brown color to them. Ill be replacing everything from the heads to the tips next year. Probably getting 1 7/8" custom long tube headers made with a twin 3" exhaust.

you mean from heat warping not from rust right... you did say they were stainless right?

if you want your headers fixed, you could get the hole welded. and try some heatwrap for the heating issue.
