Default Pitman arm busing wearing out.

Hi all I got a 2000 Dodge ram 1500 and I put a 2 1/2 inch lift kit on it and my pitman arm bushing keeps wearing out is there a fix out there for it? Like another pitman arm that can be put on from another year or a way to bend the pitman arm so it doesn't wear out so fast?

Are you talking about the 'ball joint' kind of thing on the end of the arm? Various company make drop pitman arms.... don't know if anyone makes 'em for dodge any more though.

Are you talking pitman arm on the sector shaft of the steering box? You'd be losing copious p/s fluid if so

Or track bar aka panhard? I suspect you mean the latter. Probably best to convert to 3rd Gen track bar

I'm not losing any PS fluid it's the bushing that the pitman arm sits against.

To my knowledge, the pitman arm fits onto splines on the output shaft of the steering box. As stated earlier, it would be helpful to see a photo of what you're seeing..

I'm also suspecting he may just be seeing the drag link boot (which technically touches the pitman arm in most cases) splitting. If so, a drop arm would be the best way to mitigate that.

But we may not see OP again. This forum attracts one hit wonders
