Default 96 dana 70 parking brake

I have a 2000 2500 cummins, blew the dana 70 up and put in an axle from a 96 or 97, one of the 2, anyways i didn’t realize till i bought it the drum brake hardware is different, and i cant seem to find the parking brake levers or struts anywhere online or in parts stores, if anyone knows of any other parts that can replace the ones shown in the photo please leave a reply, the truck is a manual transmission and it’s annoying not having a parking brake.

Why can't you swap the ones from the old rear?

If the truck is still using the factory aluminum wheels you need to use the newer hardware for wheel clearance.

I once had a Dana 70 that I picked up used and had the same problem. I could not find the parking brake hardware for the Dodge Dana 70 rear axle anywhere. You will likely need to source it from a pick and pay auto salvage (junk) yard.

Man that sucks. All that stuff is available for muscle cars. I've previously ordered it for Chevelles, El Caminos etc and I just found it for Mustangs. No luck finding anything on the trucks, though, esp 3/4t+

Please post if you do find a source! Probably JY, though

Could always use car-part.com, find one of the newer dana 70's with disk rear brakes..... Didn't the 02 2500/3500 trucks offer that option?

Mid year 01 I believe was disc brake change over, both my 02s had disc, but my 01 had drums. 02s were 6spds, 01 was auto, maybe they 80 hybrid (70U?) had disc and the 70 didn't.

Suck you already bought the 96 axle, i agree the correct year axle or a disc brake axle would be a better option.

Does the 96 axle have ABS sensor option? you'll need that for your speedometer to work.

unfortunately i didn’t realize they changed the drum brake setup in i believe 1999, the newer setup is supposed to be more reliable but has less stopping power than the 13” drums on the pre 99, and my backing plates on the old axle are toast and i couldn’t find those anywhere either

yes i was able to fabricate a bracket and got the old abs sensor to work in the 96 axle, the whole purpose of my swap was because for 1: the old internals were completely blown apart and 2: i wanted a regear from 3.55 to 4.10, and as for the 70u axle **** i’m not too sure, i know the old axle was a hybrid cause the truck has a factory 5 speed in it, but the window sticker says it’s a dana m80, there were no stamps on the axle indicating what axle it was but the i measured the diameter of the axle tubes and it was that of a dana 70, so i just got a dana 70 because dana 80 axle prices cost more than what i paid for the truck
