Unfortunately, I've loaned my truck out to a good friend and won't get it back for a week or so. Perhaps the eBay seller could provide those measurements?

That's mighty generous of you. My truck is the only vehicle I have to drive.... So, it stays in my driveway. (unless, of course, I am driving it......)

I'll make another attempt at things here in a bit. Down is easy.... It's getting back up that is a real struggle. (gotta love MS)

It looks like the factory hooks are forged, Lot stronger than just plain metal stock. And I noticed the max capacity 5500 LBS. Pics from the net.

Interesting, I would imagine the failure point is probably the two bolts holding the hook to the bracket, assuming they're 7/16" grade 8 that gives you about 5500lbs with a 100% safety factor.

Regardless I'm not concerned, I'm going to fab up a thick plate with some gussets, just need the bolt pattern...

Thanks all.

Alex

had another look.... Apparently, I have a piece of plastic I don't see in any of the other pics, the covers most of that front crossmember, and I don't see an easy way to get it out of the way...... (explains why I didn't see the bolt holes......)

Is that "piece of plastic" the front air dam that extends down from the front chrome bumper about 3" - 5" and wraps around the bottom of the entire bumper? I remember that I had to cut rectangular sections out of it on each side to accommodate the tow hook's forward extension through the air dam.

That one is there, but, there is another piece that lies perpendicular to that, that covers better than hold of that crossmember.... My guess is it's designed to direct better airflow thru the stacked coolers there. (a/c condenser, trans cooler, radiator.)

Be aware that there are 2 different mounting brackets from Dodge/Mopar for the 94 to 01 tow hooks. Here's a thread about when I put them on my 2500.

Tow hook info

Very interesting, this is a 1996 so I would assume it probably has the "old" bolt pattern? I'll be back around my shop in a week or so, I'm hoping I can find a second gen in a parking lot somewhere and go measure

Would you get away just with the bolt pattern on side of the frame? I can measure the pattern from my '95, but I don't have the crossmember, I cut that out and welded a winch mount in there.
