1995 Dodge ram 1500
I had a 5.2 it overheated and blew. Put a 5.9 in and it will start and run if I put my foot on the gas pedal. I checked timing it’s good checked the valves they’re all moving. I checked the fuel pressure (38) made sure fuel was coming out the injectors. It still won’t run I’m about to change all the spark plugs and see if it helps. Anybody have any ideas what it could be? I’ll upload a video here in a bit to show what’s going on.
i got codes on it. I have 37, 27, and 24.
it was a bad crankshaft sensor put in a new one and it ran right as rain. Thanks for the help everybody.

The computer might run a 5.9 instead of the 5.2. Are your injectors synchronized properly? There are differences besides displacement. The balancing is different on a 4.9 than other engines.

Is the check engine light on or have you checked for any PCM codes? Have you checked your throttle body to ensure it's clean, in addition to looking down the throttle body to see if there's any pooling of oil on the floor of the intake manifold (blown plenum gasket)?
Details on the 5.9 you put in? Was it running before the swap? You are going to need a pcm for a 5.9, It may be possible that the pcm is not giving it enough fuel to keep it at idle. Throttle body may need to be cleaned. What is the condition of the battery? If it's weak that will cause it also.
And how did you do that? Timing is adjusted by the pcm, If the distributor was moved you need to set the fuel sync.
I checked timing it’s good
Swapped a 5.2 to a 5.9 and haven’t been able to get it to run correctly. It has fire and gets gas and the timing is good but it’s back firing through the throttle body. I got codes 24,27, and 37. I used the throttle body from the 5.2 when I made the switch and all the sensors so I’m not sure what’s going on. Any ideas?

For code 37, check these things:
On a 1995 Dodge Ram 1500, code 37 typically indicates a problem with the transmission. Specifically, it suggests an issue with the 3-4 shift solenoid or a faulty torque converter. The code could also indicate a transmission slip, which might involve a faulty solenoid pack that needs to be replaced.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
- Code 37 (Dodge/Mopar):
This code generally points to a transmission-related problem.
- 3-4 Shift Solenoid:
This solenoid controls the shift between 3rd and 4th gears. A faulty one can lead to difficulties with these shifts.
- Torque Converter:
The torque converter is a key part of the transmission that transfers power from the engine to the transmission. Issues with it can also trigger code 37.
- Transmission Slip:
This refers to the transmission slipping out of gear, often causing RPM fluctuations. A faulty solenoid pack could be the culprit.
Possible Actions:
- 1. Diagnostic Scan:
Use a diagnostic scanner to verify the code and rule out other potential issues.
- 2. Inspect Solenoid Pack:
If the code points to a faulty 3-4 shift solenoid, inspect and potentially replace the solenoid pack.
- 3. Torque Converter Inspection:
If the torque converter is suspected, have a mechanic inspect it for any damage or leaks.
- 4. Transmission Fluid:
Ensure the transmission fluid is clean and at the proper level.
