Default Whats the lowest drop for a 4wd

1995 Dodge Ram 1500. I want to lower the truck as much as i can without getting into driveshaft issues or any other issues. I can buy whatever needed to make it all work just dont know where to start. Drop shackles? Do i need axle spacers? i want around a 5 inch drop if possible without complications. not really worried about the front driveshaft its a fast street truck i dont use the 4wd anyways but dont want to swap to 2wd stuff right now. thanks, links to the parts is much appreciated. will be running 305/35r24(almost 33inch) tires not really worried about the turning radius.

Might want look at the front axle, and diff housing specially. On a 2500 w/D60, there isn't too much room in a stock form to begin with.
Rear is no brainer, remove lift blocks and you get that 5".

Have a look at the front coil spring/shock then you will have an idea how much space you have to work with. even if you can can get it down that far you will not have any suspension travel. I would get a adjustable track bar also. Sound like you want to be one of those guys that has to almost stop before crossing any rail road track or bump in the road. Get a 2wd frame and modify it to be a low rider. Air suspension is something else to look into. I seen a modified (lowered) Mazda Miata with the tires at an angle going down the road. Never will I understand this!

not looking to go that low lol. i am going to be running 33inch tires after all on 26s. what would i need to modify in the front? cut the springs themselves? i dont feel like a 5inch drop is much of anything with how they sit stock. i have a leveling kit on it now so id ofc do away with that. https://limewire.com/d/pUvHe#1CnumzlIpL this is how it sits now and thats the only video/picture i have of it from the side

What does 2wd use for spring towers? You may need to graft on some 2wd parts like spring towers or maybe just the springs themselves-- no idea if they're interchangeable.

As mentioned I'd watch the front diff at the crossmember. 5" may be difficult.

I agree you'll need an adjustable track bar and hope the drag link can be adjusted short enough (it probably can).

Interesting project, let us know what you do and how you do it.

I plan on getting track bars anyways but why are they necessary for the drop? or do you mean just changing the front out with adjustables. Edit: After watching some videos it doesnt seem like adjustable bars are needed even with a 6inch drop

Stock bar is designed to stock height. When I built 2" leveling blocks on my truck, side shifting was noticeable.

You need to have a look at how much room you have between the pads on the axles, and the bump stops. Your biggest concern is going to be the pig on the front axle contacting the frame crossmember....

Just for fun measured my truck. Theres is 195 mm between the frame and the bumpstop pad on the axle. Note, from the frame. Since it would need some custom fab anyway, I didn't measure the actual bump stop and the bracket that mounts under the frame.
Lets subtract my leveling thingys, that are 60 mm, and we get 135 mm which is ball park of stock number. That would be 5 3/8".
Of course with D44 what 1500 has, there might be just a little bit more room, but still, lowering 5" and getting even some up travel would require serious frame massage. And then there's the diff housing, which has it's own clearance issues.
