This is a replacement fan clutch, the OEM got to where it wouldn't lockup when the engine got hot. Straight out of the box the replacement has always locked up with a cold start and the only way to unlock it is to hold the RPMs at or above 2250. When I was working I had a F-350 6.0 that did the same with the OEM clutch. So I figured this was normal, thus the reason I would like to go with electric fans if I knew what really works with a V10.

Think you are gonna need some pretty significant electric fans to keep up with the 8.0......

If you can find the spec, see how much air the stock fan moves at what RPM, then look for an electric fan system that moves MORE than that....

I know that is a fact about the amount of air that needs to be moved for the V10, thus the reason I'm asking if anyone has achieved great results. I don't trust advertised airflow on aftermarket fans and don't want to be the guinea pig with $$$$ and not achieve the results I need.

I found this one for a diesel

Not sure that would be adequate for the significantly larger V-10...... And the price???? I would be more inclined to simply replace the fan clutch with a high quality part.......

I feel the same way as you, I'm hesitant to buy a new fan clutch and be back where I'm at now. With a little research it looks like the V10 would need around 4,000 CFM fans.

Here is one on eBay, but it doesn't say anything about CFMs. It may fit but the price is way too cheap.

Here is one that fits the bill with CFMs but mounting might be the bigger problem. No dimensions as to the size for fitment on the radiator.

Could always go with a new fan clutch, and an auxiliary pusher fan in front of everything...... (I *think* there would be enough room between the radiator, and stock fan, but, haven't looked that closely.) Would also make your a/c more efficient at low RPM's......

HeyYou, the two electric fans I posted aren't going to work, the first one doesn't have enough CFMs, it wouldn't fit the radiator anyway, and the second one is too small to cover my radiator. As for a pusher fan, I have added two external trans coolers because the 47re trans heats up fast, especially in hot weather without the torque converter locked up. Pulling an 8k lb travel trailer in towns and cities with a lot of uphill pulls a couple times without those extra coolers I had to pull off to cool the trans fluid down. It didn't get to 300, but it did get up to 260 degrees. So I'm stuck with a nosy fan or take a chance on another fan clutch that will free wheel when it not necessary for the clutch to be locked up.

If I remember right, to remove the clutch, the threads are reverse threads, am I right about this if you know? I might change on it if the parts store will take it back if it doesn't free wheel on a cool start up.

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/s...w_wcB#overview
Height (in.):
17.000 in.
Width (in.):
33.500 in.
Thickness (in.):
3.900

The diesel radiators are wider than the V10's. I think you should try a new fan clutch. If you go with electric fans you most likely will need to make a housing/shroud to fit. You can find some pre made ones but usually not the size you need.

I don't remember.... It's been a while since a did a water pump, or anything else on the front of a motor..... But, I *think* they were standard threads...... I just put a pipe wrench on the nut, and smacked it with a hammer to get it to break loose.... then it unthreaded by hand. (serp belt still in place.)

After putting the fan clutch on I took the belt of to see if there were any pullys that could make the whining nosy and didn't find a problem. I have a new belt tensioner coming tomorrow, just in case the OEM has lost some of its strength to where I might have some belt slippage. But I don't think that is the problem.

Thank you

The radiator of my V10 is right at 36" wide and 21" high.
