Wiring aftermarket fog lights with blinker halo ring
, I’m trying to figure this out
I recently purchased after Market LED fog lights that also have a white halo for daytime running lights, as well as an Amber Halo for blinkers. I have these running directly into my fog light switch. However, I noticed that I could only get them to work if the fog lights themselves were on at the switch. But if that switch is off the two halo options, no longer work as well. I was thinking I might be able to just run the ground from the fixture directly to the chassis, but I wasn’t sure how that would be affecting the fog light control switch. The lights utilize the positive and negative that go directly into the harness. And then there is an individual positive wire for daytime, running lights and then an individual positive wire for Amber blinker Anybody have any input?
there are three positives. And one ground.
One positive for each function, and apparently all connected to one ground which goes into the vehicle harness.
Yeah, that’s why I wasn’t exactly sure
And I really don’t wanna dismantle the light to try to make a second ground to the halo portion of the fixture, but that was also a last-minute thought
Use relay to invert the switch signal, that way you can connect the ground wire to the chassis.
Use Bosch type relay and connect fog light wires, postive and ground, to the relay coil pins 86 and 85, respectively.
Relay pin 30, battery voltage through a fuse.
Relay pin 87, to the fog light positive.
And I really don’t wanna dismantle the light to try to make a second ground to the halo portion of the fixture, but that was also a last-minute thought
This would mean you'd have to redesing the whole circuit board architecture. As in general, led lights have a single circuit board, which contains tablespoon full of components. Including microchip that makes all the magic happen.
