Default Plenum bolt ID

I have been reading everything i can on the plenum repair, options, etc. and have not found the information i need.i apologize if i missed it. My plan in doing this repair is to use the factory plate and shorten or replace bolts. Id rather just buy shorter bolts, but have conflicting information. I read that OEM is m6 x 1.0 of unknown length. Hughs engine said they supply 1/4 20 x 3/4" with their plate kit as this is interchangeable. does anyone know what length is right, after shortening OEM , and/or is it a bad idea to simply add washers instead of shortening factory bolts?

You can measure the depth of the bolt hole on the plenum yourself with a caliper or use a drill bit to mark it and measure it. As for washers, when I installed my Hughes plenum plate, it was thicker than the stock plate and came with the bolts and washers needed to bolt the plate to the intake. I'd have no issues using washers with the stock plate/bolts as long as they are a decent grade 5 washer.

Just get some right size washers, and re-use the original bolts.
