hey taking the battery out of my truck for maintanence, and after i lifted it out. In the bottom of the battery tray there is a round thing the size of a quater(maybe) and it lifts out, and there are 2 wires pugging into the bottonm of it


any ideas

Thats wierd. Maybe something for the security system? But thats a shot in the dark.

 

hmmm i dont have an alarm and im sure the other guy didnt...

could it be a battery heat sensor??? or like a weight sensor>?

 

try to find out whats at the other end of the wires.

 

well after it leaves that thing (whats in the pic) it goes about 8 inches and then into a plug, and that plug goes into bundle of wires and that goes back toward the firewall


it just sits flush with the batter box (on the bottom, and has clips to mae sure it doesnt fall out of the box)

 

When you turn the key on to illuminate all of the dash lights, isn't there a little light that is in the shape of a little battery? Maybe it is for this light?

 

it could be, be, but how owuld that detect bater truble, you would think in ioder to do that it would need to be connected to a terminal

 

Maybe it detects that your battery is seated in the tray, or otherwise missing.

It's a temp sensor for the battery.
Helps determine charging rate at different temps.
