have any of you put a circulating heater in your rams? i put one in mine and its not working the heater heats up but it donent heat up the truck at all. have put them in every truck i have hade and the workrd great so i was wodering it there was something i dident know about them eg theromostat not opening unles the truck is running or something. (thow i dont know how that could work lol but im running out of ideas) any help or ideas would be great. THANKS!!

 

Well thermostats don't work unless the truck is running. Well not really running, but they work when the coolant is changing temps.

Theres wax inside them and when coolant gets hot it starts the melt it. Letting the thermo open up and allowing more coolant to flow past it, thus cooling the engine more.

 

right so wen the circulating heater heats up the theromostat it should open up and heat the rest of the coolent right

a corculating heater is a heater that splices into your return heater hose. it dus basicaly as the name says it heats the coolent and circulates it through the moter it plugs into a 110 volt outlet like your block heater would the abvantages of it is that itheats the intier moter as posed to a local spot like a block heater(if you only have i your only heating one side of your moter) anouther advantage is that as soon as you start yout truck there is warm air comming out of the heater because the coolent is alredy warm

 

no kidding... any links so i can look at them? ive been bouncing the idea in my head for a block heater...but this might seem a bit better. does it draw alot of power? liek would my elec bill sky rocket cuz of this?

i checked some out on ebay... i might need to get one or something like it.. the old lady started the truck this mornin when i was sleeepin and she said it was a PITA to get it started... cold blooded bitch... the truck that as... the old lady is just a.... nevermind

 

lol yah if i figure out why its not working ill post a full instal for ya this is my 4th truck ive had and they have all hade them this is the first time it hasent worked the only outher thing i am wondering is if there is something eletric in the heater core because it is spliced into the return heater line you half to leave the heater on hot so it can flow through it

if it is the same thing, a friend of mine has one in his ram... he works WAY up north in Fort McMurray canada.....oil rigs

any ways the temps this time of year are rarley warmer then -25, and are more like -43 at night.. he plugs this heater in, (just like a block heater) but when he starts his truck in the morning... his truck is almost at operating temp already, and when he turns his heater on, it is already hot.


he has it in a 2001 deisel.
he said it was like 1500cdn to instal, and the dealership wanted more... (of course)
