one outher question you pepole must be getting sick of me posting on here lol but my question is how many amps should the truck draw if its parked with everything off. i mean if you unhook your bat ant put your multimeeter in there what should the amprage draw be its on a btw '98 5.2 thanks


also what do you guys prefier as your main bat hookup top posts or side posts. i know on newer chev/gm they use only side posts i was wondering if there was any real diffrence between the too

there shouldnt be any draw when he truck is parked and EVERYTHING is off, other wise you may have a short!!?

I think.......

well kinda... if you disconnect your battery.. then yea... you wont have any draw b/c it has nothing to draw from...

i like both.. top and side mount batts like optima.. mainly b/c you can hook up your trucks wiring to the top post where its saposed to be.. and your accessories you run to the other.. less of a load on one terminal.. makes it nice on the batt. ive (done) and seen guys run the stereos off of one and the truck off the other mainly so that when you dis the batt,, the truck as no power.. but the radio still does.. witch doesnt loose your presets and your time.. and if wired correctly... you can play your tunes when workin on the truck and have the truck power disconnected

I will measure that tonight and post up a picture of my meter reading. Its a valid question. Your truck uses 20 milli amps for your memory on the clock radio. And my alarm pulls a tad. Give me half a day Ill repost.

Sorry for double post here but this is the meter reading of my truck sitting parked with everything off.

6 milli amps.

Thats almost nothing.

Not bad

ok thats good to know so i have anouther question mine is 0.42 amps (420 milli amps) what would be using that power if it was a short i would think it would be drawing more any ideas??

Oh yeah post up any switches you guys got and where you stuck them. I really like to see how it looks before I drill in the dash and decide I dont like it.
