duz anyone know if there is anyway to do it on thw 98-99's i know on the 94-97 it works on the check engen light and the 00-01 its on the odometer and reads P#### on the odometer but nither of those work on my 98 and i have a cupple frends one with a 98 amd the outher a 99 and i got them to check and we cant find anything duz anyone know in there is a way for us to check codes?
Always nice to know you can read the codes yourself. My Grand Am which I traded for my Dodge had a check engine light come on and it ended up being a loose gas cap. Nice!! I had to make an appointment and lose my car for an hour just because my gas cap wasn't tightened correct. At least they didn't charge me.
I believe the 98 is the only year you couldnt check it. Because that was the first year they had a digital odometer. The 99 and up will display the code on the odometer. the 97 and lower will flash the check engine light or something.
All of the parts stores that used to read codes for nothing around here either dont read them anymore or they charge. The local shops were complaining because it was a loss of revenue because they charge like $50 a scan.
So I bought one for $130 and gave my number to a couple parts stores to give out to people that want code read. I charge $20 bucks a scan and I meet them somewhere real close to my house

thanks.. ive found out the same thing too ive done a bunch of reserch lol untill 98 they had to give the owner acces to the codes without a code reader so in 98 dodge disabled it however i guess a bunch of pepole complained and they broght it back in early 99 so us 98 'ers and some early 99's got screwed out ot that option
