Default OD bucking

Well when in OD and driving anywhere from when it kicks in (35ish) to about 55 I get a nasty little buck. Its not very strong, pretty suttle, almost feels like I'm missfiring or hitting a small bump in the road, but I'm not. Only happens in OD between those speeds.

So, is this a rebuild in my future... ? I want to get a TransGo kit but I don't want to put it in just to have the trans break a week later. But if I get a shift kit and have to have it rebuild, can the kit be reused or is it shot after a rebuild?

Fresh fluid and filter within last 2k miles or so.

Dude, my truck does the exact same thing. Right around 1900 rpm. If I stand on it and get it out of O/D, it runs fine. Suggestions, anyone??

not that this is any help to you but you're not alone, mine does the same thing, mostly when downshifting from overdrive to go up a hill or somthing. I just live with it, sorry i can't be of any help.

maybe they shift into overdrive at to low of a rpm to where it makes it buck alittle bit? i have a manual and if you shift into the next gear to soon it'll buck alittle till you get up to speed.

in the dodge ram faq thred at the top pf the thred page it says this

surging in overdrive at hiway speeds: (Racinfan83)
tps is noisy and needs to be replaced. the signal a noisy tps sends back to the pcm tells it that the throttle is open farther than it really is and the pcm unlocks the torque converter. the surging is about 200 rpms as the TC locks and un-locks.

mine is doing it too but this sounded more like this it hope it helps

I have a 99 2500 Cummins and A friend has a 1998 2500 Cummins they were both doing it and he got underneath and cleaned the plug into the side of the trans and he said it cured this problem. I don't remember what plug it was for, but he said if dirt or oil gets into the prongs it will cause this problem, more so in cold weather.

I had the same problem, could pretty easily tell that it was the torque converting unlocking though.

Replaced the TPS and its fine now.

Sounds like the speed sensor...it's often the cause when the TPS isn't.

It's a common problem on Jeeps [>:] My uncle had both go at the same time on his Cherokee...caused all sorts of odd problems.
