Default Jeep Tow Rig - Power Wagon or 2500 Cummins?

.
While our '98 5.9 Ram is cool, we eventually would like to get a new Diesel Ram for our tow Rig duties. But, a guy at work recently bought a Power Wagon, and I see one on our local lot, and it's sweet. The only thing I see bad about it as a tow rig, is the night and day torque specs between it and the 2500 Diesel. Hemi = 375 ft/lbs, and 5.9 Cummins = 610. Big difference.

But, would I really need that much to haul a jeep on a trailer? I look at the PW goodies and drool....

Lockers F & R
Electric Disconnect Sway bar
12K Winch
33" BFG KOs
Long travel Bilsteins

If only I could win the Powerball.... and have a Power Wagon built with a Cummins.

What's your thoughts?

gotta think of something... whats the tq rating on your truck now and what do you tow with it? (thats a question for everyone else too)

also... we mod the hell out of our trucks... so you could theroetically do the same to the PW... it does sound like its built pretty tuff...

id say go witht he CTD... i mean c'mon.. 645 ft lbs of tq off the factory? imagine the possibilites!!! and your paying a decent price in miliage now a days for that much hp and tq... the newer CTD's been known for a good 14 to 16 mpg... witch aint shabby when your getting that much power out of them...

hell they can run on cooking grease too!! smell like a frenchfrie when you drive down the road

i thought they were sticking a cummins in that in a year ? and here's what i think. the power wagon would be better because if you jeep breaks you could drive that thing in there to get it out. plus ive build one on dodges web site and they have alot of axle gears to choose from. the cummins would be nice but i think the power wagon is better of what you want. plus a jeep really doesnt way all that much.

A 2500 Power Wagon with the Hemi will pull a Jeep just fine especially with those 4.56 gears in the Power Wagon. For a serious load (big 5'er etc.) the Hemi will fall flat on its face and the Cummins would be the best and only choice since they dropped the 10.

CTD is sweet but I get weak in the knees when I look at those Power Wagons.

You are comparing apples to oranges the cummins is a tow rig the PW was designed as an offroad work rig. The 2500 cumming 4x4 will handle 33" tires factory put a locker in the rear if you think you need one, get a big trailer for the toys and pull it.

If your getting a truck for hauling the majority of the time, easy... Cummins. I went to one last year and am still giddy at the power I have when hauling my Jeeps around, plus the mileage while hauling isn't bad, compared to a gasser while hauling.
