Im looking at a 495 HP 5.9 for mine, required some serious computer mods and I may as well chuck my 52 MM Fastman and lets not forget about the tranny upgrade as well....sticker price around $6000 motor/ $2200 Tranny, but my body/interior and everything is like new and the truck is paid for, motor is getting tired. I was thinking of just doing heads/intake, but I looked ahead at how long I wanted to keep truck and figured may as well do the whole thing. I may go with a less HP version that doesnt require 92 octane to run right and a 58mm TB.

Bamory, how many miles on your motor? I've got close to 170k and mine still performs pretty good considering... last time I had the heads off there was no ridge on the cylinders and the cylinders looked pretty good. I'm expecting to get an easy 50~60k or even more out of mine.

To the original poster... go look at www.krcperformance.com and look at their dyno page. you should be able to find what you need there. My truck, (if I dont upgrade to a diesel) is going to get a 408 stroker when it's time...

Do you leak any oil? I have 5.9 with over 220,000 miles (never rebuilt) and the rear main was leaking, that was my oil loss problem. Performance wise, the truck has no clue it is an old man. Tows and goes like a any truck I ever owned.

I dont notice and leaks looking from the outside of the block buti know it burns like 2 quarts per full tank of gas, my truck also hesitates a lot but i have a bad cat converter... also another reason i figured the truck was going is that wehn i had the 265's on the truck which is one of the stock sizes the truck wouldnt spin the tires at all not when pwoer braking and barely would do it from turning at a stop sign ... and with a 5.9 i figured that it should be able to do that

I have 180,000 on mine, and Im sure I will squeeze many more out of it, im just looking ahead, just because I get the new motor doesnt mean I will shoehorn it in right away. No oil leaks or engine knocks yet. I prefer to be prepared when it does go, 495 hP is kinda extreme, but around 425 sounds more reasonable.
