Default Modded Kegger???

I just read this article http://www.dodgetrucks.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=57167 again and I'm thinking about doing this. I know Steve's tried it but has anybody else? That forum makes it sound like its good hp and tq all through the RPM. I remember somebody saying something about how it actually lowers your low end tq. Is that true and if it does by like how much?

I wanna do this but don't wanna loose my butt in torque.

Ok, I have other info to add... my latest mod is the .25" off the runners, opened up the injector ports and cleaned up the throttle bores. I find that the low end does not suffer as much as the 1" runner cut and it runs good up to about 4k. I think that for the 4x4 CC/QC .25~.5" is what you'd want if your going to do it yourself. this setup is (in my opinion and butt dyno experience) good for power between 1000-4000 rpms (.25" off the runners).

to give you more info to go by... the 1" cut gave me power from ~2500 to well past 5000 rpms. when I stomped on it, it breathed really well up past 5k. With my truck being what it is (big and heavy) the low end loss was too much for me. My opinion... the 1" cut manifold would scream on a 2x4 truck or a std cab 4x4 short bed truck.

So probably 1/4 or 1/2" to keep my low end? And whats invloved in opening the ports? I imagine cleaning the bores is exactially what it sounds like... Thanks Steve

look at this page on my CD site... http://www.cardomain.com/ride/577104/5 there is a pic of the injector bores after they were opened up. not 100% sure if I took enough of or not but the last time I took the manifold off it didnt look like the fuel was hitting the mainfold anymore.

this pic shows an un-cut (I think I started to clean it up, then stopped to take the pic) vs a cut injector port.

your engine being a 5.2 may react differently then the 5.9. read this thread...

actually finding the 2nd one was a pita... that's why I went so conservative on it... (~.25") I'm not sure if i'm going to cut it down more or not, I still have to figure out what's wrong with it... It pings bad at high rpm's... I'm thinking it could be the fuel pump not putting out the volume it needs to. or the strainer is clogged.

yea spring break is when im lookin at doing my plenum gasket and msd install...and whatever more i can squeeze out of the ole wallet...

steve... i can see the difference in cleaning out the injector ports... like the before and afters... but whats the purpose? is the port for the injectors not adequite enough? not sure how it conflicts with the injecters squiring

the injector spray will hit the side of the manifold as it comes out and will not mix well. that's why it's opend up.
