Has any one had their heater core go bad? How old and how many miles? Thanks. I have 2001 with 110,000miles. It died today. I would like to know if I have bad luck or if this is very comon.

Thanks,

I had mine replaced at like 75k on my 01 I used to have. I started smelling something that resemble cat pi$$ and the heater core started to go bad on me. It costed a pretty penny to get it fixed,,,like 500. yea, it sucks man.

My heater core was replaced (there's a receipt in the glovebox) yet this past weekend, when I used the truck, the windows fogged and I could smell that sweet scent of glycol. I hope it isn't bad, but I can't think of what else the cause could be.

Mine blew out at about 60,000 miles. The NAPA replacement was a piece of garbage. I bought one from the dealership for $160. Expensive, but right fit and right part..

Through all the coldest winters I've driven, never have I had a heater core fail. Usually the blower motor goes first, mine stops if the temp is below -20C. That's where propane assistance comes in.

holy jesus ... how do you live in that weather? crap yall are eskimos or something...never realized how cold Canada really gets huh....

propane huh? sounds fun....

my buddies heater core went on him at 83thou... PITA to replace and after all the work and $$ in parts he wished he would have taking it to the stealer..i mean the beer cost alone while doing that project was damn near 100 bux...for 3 of us (the golden rule, one guy working and the rest are standing around watching and telling him he's doing it wrong, and drinking his beer) man that weekend sucked lol
