Default Grounded!

I was hooking up a remote starter in my 2000 ram when i accidentally tounched a ground and a hot with the hot voltmeter probe, I have tryed everything though it seems I can't figure out the problem...I have checked every fuse and even tested the ones that didn't appear to be blown...My worst nightmare is that i may have screwed my computer up..I only touched the ground long enough to make a small spark, not long enough to weld them together or anything...CAN YOU HELP? what should i do? what else should be checked? oh yea and another thing, My ignition does not work at all, Does nothing in run, nothing in accessory, and nothing in starter...the battery isnt dead, its reading a strong battery on my meter..

I guess the first question would be : What is the problem? What's not working now?

If it's a PROBE you can probe for both (+) and (-). That's what it's for, to probe. If the remote starter unit released blue smoke then I'd be worried.

dont know if you saw my post on your outher therd or not

i dont think you woulda fried the pcm or anything like that ctm maby but i kinda dout it too. how long did it ground out? a brief secend? or did it weld its self on? if it was a brief touch id check all your fuses pull each one out one bye one and test it with a multymeter (sometimes you can look at them and they look good put they have poped)if it was on for a cupple secends or longer you coulda melted some wireing in the steering coloum or fryed the ignition switch.

for next time you might wanna disconect your ground from your batt and hook it up only wen you need to test wires so this duzent happen

do you have any lights interior headlights? how far along did you have the remot start hooked up if you have lights im wondering if the remote starter cooked something in the ignition or starter. what did you have the hot voltmeter prob looked too (there was it getting power)

hopefully youve gotten this figured out your problem by now but test lights are only good for charging capacitors if you dont every charge capacitors throw youre test light away use a digital multi meter (dmm) to test your wires there should never be any problem with sparking then if you keep it on the volts setting computers are too touchy luckily i havent fried one but ive seen a few and the bills to go with them one mistake on some cars can cost a few grand

highly doubtfull but since you said you checked all the fuzes... check your relays... half the trucks systems run of the relay banks in the engine compartment... also check the small 5amp fuzes too...those are the ones that run the relays and are normally overlooked,,thinking that if something blew it would have to have been a larger 25 or 30 amp fuze....

an easy way to check the relay is just take a 9 volt battery or an + and - 12 volt source and touch both pins 85 and 86 they should be marked on the relay if you dont hear a click its time for a new one

i think you mean realy

also wen you check a relay likr that put power to 30 as well then check 87 for power after you power 85 and ground 86 it should light up wen you conect the two. sometimes the relay will click but you wont get power through it and its best to use 12 volts not 9 some relays wont work with only 9 volts some will depends if they are made to work with a 6 volt system too

maybe if you disconnect the battery for alittle bit and hook it back up? maybe sparking it flipped a breaker or something in the computer and pulling the battery and putting it back on will reset it. but i doubt im right i dont know the 1st thing about wiring in a truck [:@]
