help with lift
i didnt know they connect together. hm so yea for someone who has NEVER messed with a truck suspension (and i mean NOTHING with suspension) how hard is it? i mean unbolting the sway bar to drop down the axle? i have no clue how you would do that or what doing it would look like- is it simple enough do you think for me to do it or should i pay a professional?
I'd have to join you muddy_blue_dodge on the intimidation factor for being at rookie at trying a lift yourself. I'm in the same boat. Does anyone have a tech article on how to add blocks or leafs to our trucks? blocks in a no brainer. just take off the u bolts, take out old block, put new one in. put u bolts on. an AAL is almost as easy. just remove springs, take main bolt out of center of springs. take off over load spring, put in AAL and put over load back on. use 2 C clamps to compress springs and put bolt back through. thats about it.
wow don_ripley that site was HUGE HUGE HUGE help and confidence booster with the coilspacers. finally someone dumbed it down enough with pictures that its understandable. The blocks sound easy enough but a page similar to that one for blocks would be a huge help as well. thanx so much for puttin that link on here. if you find anything similar to blocks post it, and if i find one ill post it as well so check back here if you want. yea im definately gonna lift it (myself) now that ive read that page-- now i just gotta save up the money!!!!
i have a question about the equipment yall have used (those of you who have already installed coil spacers)- i know ill need two jack stands (6 ton) and also a floor jack- is it ok if the floor jack is only 2.5 tons?
yea thats fine. your not lifting the hole truck up in the air. your only lift like a 1/4 of the weight. and just unbolt the shocks and let the axel swing down, put the coil spacers on top and jack it back up. then lower it down and connect the shocks. not hard.
Ok so i finally decided to get the lift, and finally decided that i can do it myself- but now my friend has me questioning something else- would 3 inches look dumb with my 33s?? i just bought the 33s a couple months ago, so i cant justify goin out and buyin 35s (or whatever the biggest i can fit after i lift it is)- cuz right now these tires got just barely over 1000 miles. so id have to wait for bigger ones. but would 33s look miniscule with a 3 inch lift? before you answer make sure you look at some of my pictures on my cardomain site cuz even now with 33s theres a slight gap between the body and tires

no it would look better then your truck now. heres some examples.

nah i have 33's on mine with a 3 inch lift.. looks nice. if you've seen a 2500 dodge diesel thats pretty much what yours will look like.. except an inch higher in the front. i love it. but also when you put the blocks on in the back.. make sure you unbolt the shocks too from the axle. makes it 10 times easier because the shocks are setup up as one in the front and one in the back so it twists the axle when you un bolt the u bolts. same with the spacers, unbolt the shocks and you unbolt the sway bar from the frame. you'll see it when you get under there and look
