help with lift
alright- im sick and tired of parkin beside my friends bronco and it being bigger than my truck. i finally decided to lift it. heres my questions- i wanna swap out the 3 inch block in the back with a 5 inch, and get 2500 springs for teh front- will these springs settle over time? or would i be better off gettin coil spacers? and if i did get the 2500 springs would i need new shocks as well (longer ones?). also i guess does anyone have any better ideas for the cheapest way to get 2 or 3 inches more on it? thanx so much guys- really money is the biggest issue- i cant afford a full suspension lift as much as i want one.
you can go upto 3 inches pritty easy after that you half to get new steering ect. with any lift you will need new shocks. if you swap the 3in back blocks for 5 in you will have 2 in of lift in the back so id go with 2 in coil spacers in the front then all you would need id new shocks
i found a 2 inch trailmaster suspension lift kit that comes with 4 shocks front coil spacers and rear add a leafs. the shocks are 'ssv's (speed smart valving)-- is this a good kit, does anyone have a trailmast kit on their truck already? also its just under 500 bucks- am i gettin ripped off if i get it?
I pieced mine together with 2" steel coil spacers for the front ($80 delivered), 2 1/2" add a leaf in the rear ($60 delivered) and 4 new shocks ($130 delivered). All together it cost me $270 to get all of the parts. I have not put it on, so I have yet to see how it works out, but $500 seems kind of high in comparison.
your definately right- 500 vs. 270. mind if i ask where you ordered each piece from? i looked around lookin to piece together my own kit like you did- but for the life of me i cant find add a leafs that come with ALL the hardware, and im nervous buyin U bolts seperate from the leafs. maybe thats just me bein dumb. anyways yea if you could tell me where you ordered each piece from thatd be a huge help. what type of shocks did you get btw? and i assume that what you listed is everything your expecting to need? when you get 2 inch coil spacers you dont need anything else ('accessories') do you? thanx man big help
I got the coil spacers off of Ebay. I forgot to mention that I got a track bar bracket too. That was another $19. I am not sure if I will need it or not to center my axel, but I figured for $19 I couldn't get hurt. The spacers and bracket were both from Top Gun Custom on ebay. They have a store on there that has the spacers and bracket. The add a leafs I got as a gift. The invoice was for like $60 and change with free shipping, I believe it was from Summit racing, but I am not sure. I already had u bolts so I didn't need to buy them. The shocks are skyjacker for a 3 inch lift (I figured since I already have the off road package, 3" should cover the stock lift and my 2" addition). They are about $33 a piece with free shipping from Summit racing. Hope this helps.
what is a track bar bracket and what does it do? you make it sound like 2 inches probably wont need it tho....

o yea and i forgot to ask- what are the best shocks? i do a decent amount of offroading keep in mind, but i still want it to be beareable on the road. also are shocks are hard to intsall? ive never done them before but they cant be that bad, right?
You're right, two inches doesn't need it. But since I am adding the spacers to an off road, it will be more like 3 1/2 to 4" of lift. I get the feeling I may need it to re-center my axle. The track bar may try to pull the axle toward the driver side because of the lift. The bracket eliminates the movement of the axle keeping it centered. You should be fine without a bracket since you are not lifting an off road ram.
you can get a 3 inch sus. lift for 250 after shipping.. comes with blocks in the back.. front spacers and new front shocks with red boots.. thats what i have on my truck.. looks nice.. www.topguncustomz.com ... good cheap site and its a rough country lift (name brand).. not that cheap stuff
