Default problem with stereo

i just bought a used jvc from and friend and have been trying to install it in my 1999 dodge ram 1500. so i went out and bought a wiring harness from wal mart. i connected all the wires together but i only get power to the head unit and no sound will come out any of the speakers. with the stock stereo everything works fine. i was just wondering if anyone has had the same problem or if i doing something wrong.

If I remember correctly you have to hook up both of the remote wires(blue) coming from the harness. One turns the tuner on and the other turns the amp on. I didn't have the infinity system and still had to do this. Kind of wierd.[&:]

well im glad you decided to use a wire harness. i bought a new head unit and tried wiring up myself my splicing the wires and all. turned out i had all the wires backwards and fired the head unit [:@] so i got a new one and payed circuit city 100 bucks to install it for me. i didnt understand the dodge wiring colors at all so i got it all screwed up.
