I made a few extra bucks. Hypertech or fastman which will make the biggest differance. Both are planned but not at the same time.

 

I would do the Hypertech first if you ask me.
The Fastman TB is a must too... do that 2nd.
I already have the TB and JUST ordered the PPIII.
You won't have to worry about the death flash and pinging if you get the PPIII.

I have the tb and the hypertech. Go with the hypertech first. I put both on to my truck one at a time and tested each seperate from the other. The hypertech showed the larger gains in my opinion. Plus, it lets you adjust for tire size, read codes, stuff like that. Then when you get more $, go with a TB along with CAI and exhaust. I felt like I saw the most from my TB after also installing the CAI and exhaust.

I agree with Off Road, get the programmer first, then get a Fastman. The Fastman is $225 if you mention this forum. Maybe the savings on the Hypertech will help you get a Fastman faster!

 

Sorry about jackin the thread. Does anyone know or is there a list as to which programer would be better, the Hypertech or the superchip one. If there are any others? Thanks.

 

Opinions seem to be based on which one someone has tried. There are not alot of people who have tested both on the same vehilce, so it is hard to compare equivalent programmers. Superchips (for my year at least) has a tow mode, which hypertech doesn't. But at the same time, I have heard from a few people on other boards that they had problems with superchips not showing any gains on an 01. The people who saw no results plus the lower price are the reasons I went with the hypertech. But I am sure you will hear from people who swear by superchips. It really comes down to a matter of opinion.

 

i have the superchip i got it cuz i got a hell of a deal on it umm i dont think there is to much diffrence between the 2

acording to there respective web sites the hypertec on a 98 5.2L +11hp,+24ft lbs on 87 octne and +14hp, 26ft lbs on 91 octane where as superchip says for a 98 5.2L +21hp, +34ft lbs on 91 octane (i dident find specs for 87 thow) again thats there specs

Hey Teacher did you notice a big differance with the hypertech?I have an 01 also .I think it's been death flashed,I'm looking for the biggest bang for the buck with my next mod.

 

I did notice a big jump. I had the death flash too, that is probably why I felt such a big jump in performance. It was definately worth the money.
