Default M1 Intake,

Ok, have a few questions, I just recently put my new Fastman TB 50m on, man what a great mod, thottle response inproved 100%, but while a was changing it out I went ahead a looked down the intake, looks like I may need to change out the plenum gasket, it's not bad but it does looked like it's blown. Ok I'm looking at the Hughes gasket and it;s about $130 shipped. Now that being said would it be more of a benefit if I just went a change out the whole intake. I was looking into getting a M1 for about $450 or the Hughes one for $550, I understand that if I do I could lose power on my low end and gain it is the top. Now if I got an Mopar PCM would that help out with the low end problem and do I 100% have to run 93 octane gas. If I went with the whole intake (M1 or Hughes) would I see a night and day Difference in power. I would also like to change out my gears to 4.10 or 4.56 to go with my 33 inch tires, but with the plenum gasket problem I think I'm going to take that one on first then in the future take care of the gears.

Thank,

DMan

I would order the kit from APS and get a whole new Plenum pan. It comes with the gaskets and the bolts you need for the manifold.

As for the keg, I would just mod it instead of buying a whole new one. Steve did a great write up on it, or at least I think he did

Over my spring break thats what I;m doing. Fixing my Plenum with the APS kit and modding my kegger. Somebody on pavementsucks actually said that the modded stock kegger can actually be better than the M1. But like you said, trimming to much off and you gonna loose your low end. I plan on trimming only 1/4-1/2" off mine. That and cleaning/openng up the intector ports.

i'd do the modded kegger. and Socha... cut .5" off, I think you'll be happy with it. I may cut mine down more to the .5" mark, it's currently around .25" and runs pretty good up top but I think it could be just a bit better.

also for reference... I cut my 1st manifold down 1" and it screamed up top (power was 2600-5000+ rpms), and it lost a little too much on the low end, thats why I went and did a 2nd manifold. Now it's more like 1200-4000 or so.

I noticed a big improvement going to 4.56 gears, but I am also running 35" tires. 4.10 would be perfect with 33" tires.

I am also building a 408+ stroker soon, very soon. I plan on using the stock intake, probably going to a larger TB though. I talked to a guy that retired from the engine labs about the intake, he said I'd lose my low end power... Too bad that's what I need.

1/2 inch it is! Very nice ride sux2bu101. Says in your sig you have an OX Locker up front. Is it a full time? That be CRAZY hard to steer and it would wear out relaly fast if I was, least I thought so. Also how do you like the OX?

hit me up for pics when your ready... also, you'll need plenty of the sanding buffers for the dremel. those work really well at smoothing the edges out after they are cut

Sanding bits huh. Just regular sand paper ones? I'm gonna use an air cut off tool to cut the big pieces off.

As for opening the injector ports, I have no idea what to use. You'll have to enlighten me
