Default P n K Cold Air Intake Question

I have been told if I have the P n K Cold Air Intake installed it will lower my gas milage, ive heard it will make it better.....Sooo Whats the truth?

I have a 2001, Dodge Ram 1500 5.9L 360

I;ve never heard of P n K. Do you mean K&N?

Also the point of CAI is to create more power, generally creating more power lowers MPG slightly because your engine doesn;t have to work as hard to get going, and to stay going.

I think it would be the other way around... creating more power (at the low end anyway) should increase milage "because the engine doenst have to work as hard to get going and stay going"... the more low end power, the easier it is to maintine your speed so the throttle is opened less...

more low end torque = improved milage.

yea socha lay off the booz!!!! lol!!

agreed! low end grunt means more MPG's and better towing. a CAI reduces the intake air temerature, and cooler air means more air and more air means more bang and more bang means happy buttdyno...
