Default Weight Reduction

I have a 96 Ram and was wondering if anyone had any ideas for a weight reduction. I already got rid of my spare tire and changed my rear bumper to a roll pan. I also put a 99 sport setup on the front with a fiberglass cover.

welcome to DF...

lighter rims and a carbon fiber hood are all I can think of right off the top of my head... you would need to do some serious dieting on the truck to shed some weight that would make a difference. they're too damn heavy.

which fans do you have? there's a thread about some upgrades Shott8283 did which included the fans... I've been eye ballin the flex-a-lite dual fan setup which pulls 5000 cfm as my next mod...

depends on how much you want good looks, but replacing your tailgate with one of those net things would help, the tailgates are massive..... net tailgate

and this may not make as big a difference, but possibly replacing your seats with lighter weight ones could help.

oh yeah, that's true, forgot about the bench seat... yank it out and put in some good quality adjustable racing seats. you should be able to save some decent weight there...

Oh and one other thing you could do is go to an aluminum drive shaft. I know some of the Daks have them already.

I forget the pn for the fans but they pull 2200 cfms a piece. They do the job well but draw alot of amps.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm gonna look into getting this stuff done because no matter what I do to the engine it still isn't even close to fast enough because it's so damn heavy

wow.... i read that writeup by RM_Indy......... he said 100 pounds equals .08 to .1 seconds?!?!? thats much more than i would have guessed for such a heavy truck. i wonder how much the spare tire + hood (replaced with carbon fiber) would weigh?? i need a new hood anyways cuz the paint is chipping so badly
