Tires and Gearing

Tires and Gearing
I have recently put 2" spacers on the front of my 01 off road and 2" add a leafs in the rear. Now I am at the point where I need some new tires to fill the wheel wells. I am thinking of going either with a 305/70 (12" wide by 33.8" tall) or a 315/70 (12.4" wide by 34.4" tall)on my stock 17" rims. Is there anyone out there running either of these size tires? If so, are you having any issues with rub? The other thing I am concerned about, more than the rubbing, is bogging my engine down with these larger tires. I am currently running 4.10 gears. Is this enough gear to turn these tires, or should I go with a smaller size tire? Changing out the gears is not an option at this point.

4.10s or 4.11s are generally happy with 33's ... although 35's wouldnt be harmfull..so the sizes where your talkin about are in the green
as far as whos running these combos id like to know to..im doing the same thing here in about 2 months and amd juggling the idea around of either getting new rims with the new bigger tires or just getting the size that i want mounted on my oem 17's ..same as yours (from your avatar pic) i actually love the stock look of the rims... still really good looking...

Here are some pictures of the wheel wells on my truck. I want my new tires to fill these things in some more than these tires do. Currently, the rear well is 44" off the ground and the front is 42" off the ground. I am not sure if 305's will even fill them enough to look good.

also, go here http://www.differentials.com/calc.html to calculate your approx rpms with the setups your looking at.
nice truck!
edit: I didnt notice your rims until the 2nd look at your pics, but you may have rubbing issues because of the backspacing on them. you might check over on pavementsucks .com and see if they can answer your questions on the tires your looking at.

RE: Tires and Gearing
Thanks. I was just over at pavement sucks and it seems like 305's should fit with no rubbing. There were a few guys saying they run 305's on a stock off road ram, so with my extra 2", rubbing shouldn't be an issue. The opinon on 315's seem to be split. Also, that rpm calculator is handy. According to the calculator, running the 315's will drop my rpm's lower than I would like, leading to the bogging I am trying top avoid. Any opinions on the goodyear wrangler mtr's? Or suggestions where I can find some 305's, there are not too many listed on the net.
