fuel filter
yep its part of the pump so wen you change out your pump you change out the filter sooo unless you wanna drop the tank or your having fuel pressure problems you dont need to do anything to it
replace the filter, the strainer does plug up and cause pump failure, and performance issue. fuel additives appear to melt material in strainer also.
a big giveaway filter is restricting is that unit only runs down to 1/4 fuel tank level and then erratic driveability issues. what happens is fuel module gets unfiltered fuel from bleeder holes in module and module does not fill by strainer. a simple example is place a glass in a bowl filled with water, drain water to below glass level, now no water will go in glass.
the strained gas keeps module filled ,restrict strainer and fuel comes from elsewhere, filter on my unit is done during tranny serv interval

MARC276CA,
I've read a few of your posts now, and you seem unusually knowledgable. Are you a Chrysler mechanic or something?

automotive troubleshooter domestic and imports, with 18 yrs in the trade & also own "why dodge when u can ram it" sorry if reply sounds confusing ,northern french guys use their hands alot when talkin (lol) .the fuel module ,is similar to a bucket, pump in bucket, fuel pump flow goes to regulator, at regulator after 45psi remaining fuel returns in bucket(module)and returns in cycle, but if strainer restricts, fuel can still flow in module by seams, and fuller(is that a word??) tank levels, but will fail eventually.

After reading this item, I have been wondering why a person couldn't find an in-line filter used for a fuel injection system, and fit it so it could be serviced regularly. Then eliminate the in-tank one.
