I would love to do something like that, but the almost $900 price tag makes it hard to vision. Was hoping a way to get the breather part only and just cut my hood for it. Of course I would have my buddy who owns a body shop do it correctly, so it doesnt look chopped up.

i think your on a good idea... just get the shaker minus the hood... be alot cheeper and less parts to paint ... i couldnt even begin to imagine taking a set of air shears or cutting wheel to my hood... but i think i could stomach it for the function and the look of a shaker setup... them things are soooo friggen sick lookin..... shaker hoods scream "wooopin yo' ***!!"

One draw back to doing it yourself is the nice rolled edge around the opening that comes with the new one, will need to be fabbed by the shop or just stick rubber trim on it. Not sure about the bracing under the hood??? Thought about it myself. Just can't justify the cost. With my hood over 5' off the ground, most won't see it anyway... A nice wide hemi scoop would look cool.
