Default Tire Help

Hey guys, ive got a 1999 ram 1500 sport with a 2 inch leveling kit and 2 inch add-a-leafs. Shes got a 5.2 318 and much to my dismay 3.55 gears. The 265's look kinda funny on her so im moving up and i need help deciding whether to go with 285/75/16 or 295/75/16. There is a 4 tenths of an inch difference between the two Nitto Terra Grapplers and all in all the 295's are only about 25 dollars more. Rims are 7.5 inches wide. Just looking for some advice on which would be best fit and best with my gearing if that matters at all. Any experience with rubbing or problems would also help alot.
thanks alot for your help its definetly appreciated.

eric

I believe mine are the 285/75-16
They have a 10 ply rating so it will stiffen the ride up.
They are Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revos

295's are probably going to be to wide for your rims and will most likely rub. If you go with the taller tire and tow anything of weight you will probably not have the power that you would like. I've got 4:10's in mine and 265's. pulls like a tank on roids.

295's will probably rub. I was looking at the 295 Nitto's, but I went with the 285 Yokohama's and they rub with my 3" lift.

The gearing is something you will just have to deal with. I thought 3.55s were low/high to start with. Stock with 265 X 16 on the sport, towing anything or with a load it would kick in and out of OD all the time running close to the speed limit.
With 33"s it didn't seem to make a lot of difference. When I went to 35"s it became a dog.. No OD unless running over 75. Realistically closer to 85.

I'm not really sure about the best tires to get, the only thing I know for sure is that I recently purchased some Nitto's and experienced 2 blowouts within a month! Nitto's are crap and I do not recommend them

I have been running the Mickey Thompsons and have a good 35-40K miles on them. My last set were Dunlop RV's and did just as well.
Copied this off a web site. They have all the popular sizes.
