Its inside the distributor, to replace you have to remove the whole distributor.

The whole distributor? It's not under the cap or rotor? If thats the case I'm screwed, I can't set the timing worth a crap!! The engine light came on a week or so ago, I disconnected the battery and cleared it, while sitting in traffic for about 3 min it came back on. I tried to clear it again but it comes right back on. It runs fine with no lose of power. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Sorry if I worded that funny, you don't ahve to replace the distributer, just remove it The sensor is inside it and can be removed and replaced

If I mark which way the cap is and where the rotor is pointin, would I have to set the timing on it or will it be ok? What does the damn thing look like and is it a pain in the ***?

Hell, with that body lift you oughta be able to walk right in there and git it done. Take the plugs out, and manually crank the motor to TDC. In this position the rotor will be pointing to the cylinder one hole on the distributor. Remove the distributor, replace the sensor, and, when you put it back, make sure the rotor is pointing to the cylinder one hole.

Front driver's side is #1 cylinder. If you look on the intake manifold it will have the cylinder numbers and the firing order. If you have a high speed internet connection, go to the sticky at the top of this forum that says "merry christmas guys". There is a service manual that you can download that has diagrams of cylinder and distrbutor orientation.

The manual is for a 2001, but what you are looking at will be the same.

Hell, i was about to say, if that was your truck you shouldnt have a problem with any kind of engine work at all...

And if you had the money to lift a truck like that with those monster truck tires i'd say you should have your own mechanic too =P

Coulda fooled us

The cam sensor on your dodge is the inductive pickup ( wiring and plate) that is inside your distributor. Just pop the cap, pop the rotor, and lift the plate out.
