Posi-trac
Like I had asked before, where can I find the spread sheet on my truck. I don't have a auto manual for my truck, wasn't there when I bought the truck. And I wouldn't mind finding out what type of rearend my truck has in it, gears and such.
I got it. Now hopefully it isn't goin to cost me anything to recieve this information. If I look for a locker, what should I get? Something to lock it posi all the time, but I have heard that doing this can harm the rearend worse, or something to make it a limited slip? I'm not to sure what I should look for in a locker for the rearend. Also, is it heard that it isn't that hard to put one in, but I want to see what you guys think about putting one in.
Well my rearend had started humming before I put the new transmission in it and now once I have been driving it for a while, it still humms. A guy told me last night that the humming is probably coming from the bearings. He said that a part of the spider gear has broke off(just a little piece nothing huge), and got stuck in the bearings.
It is real easy to find out if you have posi or not. Jack up the rear of the truck and turn one wheel while watching the direction the other wheel turns. If the other wheel turns the same direction you have a posi, if it turns the opposite direction you do not have posi.
Changing the diff is not very difficult. It just requires attention to detail and some common sense. I swapped mine for a trac loc from a 06 Ram. As long as it is a 9.25 31 spline you are in business. Just be sure to swap the ABS ring when you removed the ring gear.
I bought mine off ebay from a dealer in Michigan. Cost me $162 shipped to my house.

I have limited slip and all i have been able to do are peg-leg burnouts, which i have only tried a few times. i would imagine that my clutchpacks are going south. I have hit the gas too hard on a dirt road before and looked back and there were two tire tracks, so i know it still works. i know there are tricks but i have not tried them yet. Like before you do a burnout, hit the gas and brake, roll foward, and then spin the wheels to get the limited slip to kick in. Or the other one, start with you parking brake slightly on. I do not know if any of this works though, have to try it.
