Default cloudy headlights

so, 94 ram...the headlight housings are a bit cloudy...does anyone know of a way to clean them up, or is buying new ones the only way to fix this?

I know of two ways.

#1 Brake fluid, which does a pretty good job. You have to be careful not to get it on anything else though. [8D]

#2 This product from Permatex (a name I definitely trust when it comes to automotive items). I believe there is another member here who ordered it and is going to try it on his headlights. Maybe he's gotten it by now and tried it out.

I had one that had a weird looking haze at the top and the bottom, but the middle was crystal clear.
I tried everything with no results.
Then I figured it was going to get replaced if nothing could be done.
So I got a can of PPG paint reducer and did a quick wipe down.
Yes, I know it was not going to be good on plastic and I was right.
It was like it began to melt the plastic.
So before I got discouraged, I grabbed some rubbing compound and worked it in real good. Better, but still not looking real good.
So after a few good polishings with car wax, it cleaned up pretty nice.
The wife will vouch for me on this one...
It looks 100% better and my light output from that side is way better than before.
If you are going to have to replace the unit anyways, it is worth a shot.

I had a Ranger at one time and the side mirrors got hazy... I tried windex and just about everything else. The one thing that brought them back to life was rubbing alchohol. I'm pretty sure it'll work.

3 step...well,actually like 8 step
1.Reducer till all the yuckies come off. It'll look like he!!
2.Rubbing compound. Yup,rub the crap out of it.
3.Polish/Wax. I began using EagleOne Nanowax.

This shows the after effect(the driver side is the one I did)
Wish I had a before pic.

Use the rubbing compound called Autosol with a buffing wheel on your electric drill, makes the lens look and function as new. Eastwood sells the kit for about $15 last time I looked. [Eastwood.com I believe] I did mine and it works great!

.
My wife bought me some stuff from Advanced Auto recently. It's a auto lens polisher. Seems to work good. It comes presoaked into little pads that inserts into a cordless drill. Can't recall the name of the stuff.

I just tried stuff around the garage since I hate shopping.
That stuff from the parts store sounds interesting...
