RE: spark plugs
i have autolites... to tell you the truth i replaced my wires with 7.5mm ones and autolight plugs and a brass rotor.. and didnt feel a damn diffrence lol.. but then again i have a manual so its really hard to feel a diffrence.. but with the mods i've done so far (hypertech, k&n replacement filter, new plugs and wires) makes it a whole lot easier for me to keep up with my friend 2002 silverado HD with a 400 6.0L 2500.. but he still beats me pretty bad lol

RE: spark plugs
Running a colder plug will help with detonation. That and running a 180* thermostat. Carbon build up will raise the compression ratio of your cylinders, in turn making the combustion chamber hotter. Anything you can do to cool things down will help keep the air/fuel mixture from igniting before it is supposed to. I do agree that all of this is kind of like cold medicine though. You're just curing symptoms not the underlying problem.
Conversely, If you do not have a detonation problem and the compression ratio in your cylinders is correct, a cooler plug may foul quicker than usual. Especially with a 180* tstat.

RE: spark plugs
Ok, I DO drive 100% in town short trips, maybe 3-5 miles at a time, to and from work..... thats about it, if going out for dinner or something ,its the same thing.... am CONSIDERING platinum plugs as I keep hearing they are good for that, something about they self clean faster after startup or something... I have the 5.9, so not TOO concerned with loosing a HP or two....
