Default Alarm System: which one?

I would like to install an alarm system:

which make/model do you suggest? I should be able to install by myself, I did many in the past on Italian cars, this should be not so different.

I noticed Viper Alarms... what about them?

thanks

Vipers are pretty good.. I would suggest the viper 350 for entry level.

i would go for a clifford or a viper they are by the same company and they are the best on the market, it depends on how much you want to spend for the different models, but you pay for what you get.

I usually want the best, I'll wait to have the money and buy a Viper 791VX, it's even cheaper than buying an alarm system here!

by now the truck is sleeping in my garage... but I'm upset leaving it at the parking lot when I'm going around

I'll also put a two cameras recording system, I love those gadgets :-)

thanks all!

I'm gonna be getting an alarm later in the summer before I go down to my new college. I live in Northern MI so its pretty rural And my new school is in Grand Rapids, MI so thats the big city [:'(] My truck may not be the newest but I'm sure it would catch soembody's eye. I have alot of electronics and gadgets in there.

I also want to tint my windows a bit, sure it looks cool, but I don't want people to be able to see into my truck unless they actually stick they're face on the window!

I went with a lo-jack system, because no matter what alarm you put in someone can get around it. lo-jack is a stealth system that the police activate when you report it stolen and then it is tracked by the police with special equip. 90% recovery rate, would like to see the look on the scumbags face when they catch him if he feels he needs to take my truck!!!

i vote viper. ive done alot of research for alarms and they seem like the way to go. im going to have one installed when everything else on my list is done. and dont always thing low jack is the way to go. alot of times when the cops fined the car its totaled or ripped apart. i would rather have the alarm scair them away first.

i have a crimestoper alarm it was a chepo one (just under 100 bucks) the main reson i got it is because of the keyless entrey i wanted it and dident have it, i havent had any problems with its just a basic one but like was sed before there are ways around them nomader how much you spend on it, since i did mine myself i put it in behind the cupholder so it hals to be removed for access unlike the typicle spots ither under the drivers dash or behind the glove box.

you can usally get wirring keys as well it will tell you what wire you want in your truck and where to find it

as far as the lojack system tracking your vehicle i think you can get a clifford/viper that can do the same thing plus it does have the siren most people look for in an alarm

thanks for detailed hints!

well I'll go Viper, I saw it about 15 years ago when I was teen reading Car Stereo. The price was so high about 10 times the actual one!

I put in my old car a hidden solenoyd activated valve in the fuel line actuated by an electronic key ( a resistor in a 3,5 mm audio jack) so the engine run about 1/4 mile then died.

My truck here is an eye catcher.... I believe the only SS/T in Italy, not so popular like in USA.

Where do you suggest to install the main unit?

thanks again
