biggest tires on stock 16x7 rims?
i just wanted to see what kind of tire sizes people are running on the stock wheels. and i'm not interested in 'oh i heard this kid runs these' or anything like that, but what you are ACTUALLY running. too much heresay on the forums. also, i have no lift as of yet, but plan on adding a 3" suspension lift soon. 33's should fit no problem on stock ride height, right? will 35's not work at all, or just rub a little bit?
thanks all
thanks all
I ran my 305/70R16 Procomp Xterrains on my 16x7 wheels, not factory wheels, but some steelies none the less.
They fit, i guess. I had no lift and they would just scuff my mudflap under suspension load at a turn.

Its not so much the height that gets ppl, its the width. I ran 33's well 285/75/16 not quite 33 with stock rims and they rub the lower control arm bcuz of width. Now I have new wheels and tires that are true 33's and they rub the front fender bcuz of heigth, but not the control are bcuz the new offset of the wheels. The rubbing is my excuse to get a lift now
whats the backspace of the new wheels? stock wheels should be 4.5 right? (atleast my stocker 17's are 4.5 i think) im bout to order my new wheels but they come in 4" of backspace not 4.5 and i wana make sure the 295s arnt gonna rub
radwebster if you look at the manufacters webpage of the tirse your looking at, they should list the range of rims they can fit on... most 33-35's will fit between 8 to 10 inch i think and like 265's will be between 7-9 inch... but it changes with every manufactuer.. so its a good idea to check
for the nittos im lookin at these are the specs
LT295/75 R16 123Q 16.5 33.27 11.73 7.5-(8.0)-9.5 3415@65 624
kinda confusing with out the legend for the chart... but the rim width is 7.5 to 9.5 seems to be the most commong for anything up to 35.. anthing higher needs a bit more like 10+
it also depends on the rim size.. like a 15 16 17 etc.. that makes a difference too

4 7/16 I have 285/75/16 on again ,but they are actually 33 in and are about 1/8 of an inch thinner. The lower the backspace the farther it will stick out. A 4 in backspace will stick farther out then a 4.5in backspace. I think mine where 5 in factory backspace.
Most of the factory ram 16" wheels are like 5 or 5.5" backspacing...the 17" off road wheels have 4.5" of backspacing are are 8" wide.
With the stock 7" wide wheels I have 285's which are a small 33 x11.50ish....like you said, what do people have from personal experience, thats what I have, I have however seen 315's on stock 16x7 wheels...I was going to do the same, but I really dont think I wanna put a 12.50" wide tire on a 7" wheel...Ill go with a 8" wide wheel if I do that I think

one more quick question...when you guys say they rub, is that anything to worry about? is it just minor contact under certain conditions, or is it constant and will cause tire damage soon? i also take my truck offroading fairly often, so would i encounter any problems? thanks again

The rub is on the control arm, its just rub from full lock turning, nothing major, Just learn not to full lock it when ya turn, just gonna have to make wider turns haha
