Well, for those who haven't read Steve's "Damn, sold the M3..." thread yet, I posted in there how the wife and I sold the '98 gasser, for a new '06 2500 CTD. While it happened a bit sooner than we (and our wallets) had originally planned, we felt that the new rig would handle Jeep tow duties a bit easier. We'll find out next month when we haul to Utah for the Jeep Safari.
The deal on the used '05 truck ("A '05 CTD caught our eye" thread) fell through, when the used car dealership wouldn't budge on their $3,100 over book value pricetag, and said they'd only give us $8K for our '98 trade in. They said their $38,600 price was fair, because of the custom paint and lift kit. Right after they told us our fresh tranny rebuild and new tires were 'maintenance items' and worth nothing. Meanwhile, our local Dodge stealership said they could get us into a new '06 for the same $38,6K cost. Now we have a new truck w/ 18 miles, instead of used w/ 8K, and no mods that could give us problems in the future. Sorry Zoe Auto Sales... your loss.
Like Steve, I plan on sticking around the 2nd gen section too. Gonna miss the '98 truck alot, even though the new one is cool. Now I have to learn all the ins and outs of caring for a diesel (first one). Maintenance will hopefully be lower on the new rig, and I'll have to watch out, and not do mods that would void any warranties. Gonna research additives, oil changes/filters, intervals and winterization soon, so we treat it right, and keep Dodge happy too.

For starters, congratulations on the purchase and you definitely did the right thing. The 3rd Gen Ram's are above and beyond my favorite truck on the market, and the CTD is king in my book. Sorry SRT-10, but you aint worth the money
As for learning about the maintenance and up keep, definitely visit the TDR site and talk with Drew. Those are two of the best options for learning about CTD's. Great information and nice folks. Drew definitely knows his stuff and he's already helped with giving Steve some info.
Even though you went from a 2nd gen to a 3rd gen....you are still in a Ram...which means you can still be anywhere and provide good information and good quality b.s. with the rest of us [8D]

I hope your loving that 06 CTD. I know i would... I just wish that i got a CTD instead of a gasser... even though diesel in Nashville is OUTRAGOUS..

nice score two!!!!!! sharp lookin truck... as far as i know with factory warrentys,, you can still mod the truck and if anything "breaks" the dealership has to prove that the mod was the actualy cause for whatever failed from the factory.. dont be affriad to mod if you want!!! just be carefull ..i mean i wouldt tear down the motor quite yet but an exhaust or electronic tuning products wont void anything,, b/c the stealership is too dumb to even try to prove that and exhaust made your alighnment go bad...

Ya know on my way to school theres a cummin automotive center/engine dealer that i drive by everyday... They are mainly for the big rigs but im sure they do stuff with the CTD... And everytime i drive by it i go "I wish i had a CTD" ...
Then i speed up so I dont cry...

How does "ratherbecumminthanstrokin" sound lol? I love your old truck but the new one is so awesome. I love that color. I really wish I had the money to go buy a new 2500 Ram. One of those regency conversions would be so badass. That is kinda crazy that a Dodge dealership considers a new tranny a maintenence item. Didn't the 98 have less than 70k on it too? Sounds like they have alot of faith in what they sell there. Anyway good luck with the new truck, wish I could join you and Steve in the 3rd gen club.

lol..steve it seams everything revolves aroudn your lunch break lol everytime you mention the truck or anything to do with the truck its on your lunch break... do you even get a chance to gets ome chow?
i wouldnt say trolls really..both of you guys added a BUTTLOAD to this forum and helped us out in SOOO many ways... should be in some kind of memorial or hall of fame as far as im concerned.
