Default engine hood heatshield falling down

does anyone else have this problem?

the bolt/washer on the left is a fix by my grandfather. My dad and I tried to use the stock clips with the fender washers, but it didn't tighten down enough.

Any suggestions?

I had/have the same problem with mine as well... I made a post awhile back if there were any ramifications if I took the darn thing off. But I took some steel wire and sort of made a huge triangle to brace it up. I did that a year ago and it's still holding up.

Nope, my wife has the digital camera but she's in Michigan right now and I'm stuck in Texas.

id just say to take it off of there...it also helps if the engine catches on fire its susposto come down and smouther it becaues the plastic clips will melt but if it catches on fire it probbley wont help because it can still get ait from underneath, anouther thing you could do id take some real short self tapping screws and those big washers and screw it up, make shure you olny screw in the ribs thow or youll have screws poking through the hood

It helps keep the engine bay noise to a minimum as well...especially if you have a diesel

you can take that off and get some aftermarket stickybacked heat sheilding... a universal type stuff that works really well... and would worrry bout it falling down again and you would be adding more holes in the structure of the hood (doesnt really hurt it..i hate putting extra holes in my truck)

doesnt it also help from the heat building up and making the paint on the hood from dulling and flaking? i was always told thast what the real purpose is.. but dont know if thats true or now...

hmm good thought i always was told it was like a fire balnket....i cant see geting that much heat under there to ruen the paint on your hood, guys who race there rams remove it for weight reduction and i would think they would be making more heat than us
