Thats a tough question. It can get complicated when you have to adjust the spacing and backlash on them so the gears don't get to big of a worn groove on them. If you can find a good write up on them I imagine its pretty straight foward.

I think I heard a few people say to stay away from Genuine. I guess Yukon is the way to go! Gears aren;t something you want to go stingy on as you can imagine

Go with YUKON.

It's something you CAN do yourself, but it's not exactly an easy process. Getting the differentials out without an axle spreader is a PITA in itself. [&:] Putting them back in isn't much fun either [:'(]

i heard with the D44 its alright to get the diff out without a spreader... its the D60's that are a realy big PITA...

thers a writeup on ps.com that shows a dude not using a spreader and just prying out the difff... not sure if its exactly the way to go but would be better then buying a housing spreader

I just used a pry bar when I took the differential out of my 60 to change the axle seals. It took me around 2 hours to CAREFULLY pry it out with a huge pry bar. I left one of the caps half on to catch it so it wouldn't fall out. And if you do this yourself, make sure you MARK the caps (both the side and orientation) so they go back on exactly the way the came off.

I looked at axle spreaders after I did mine. IIRC they were around $500 on eBay...at least for the kit that would allow you to do 44s, 60s, 70s, 80s, Chryslers, and GM Corporates. [>:]

We have the gears you are looking for. We generally sell the Motive gears or richmonds. I have never used the Yukon gears. Shoot me a PM or email and I can get you some prices.

Thanks,
Brad
