To raise or Lower... That is the question
If your thinking of going to the dragstrip there is only one way to go & thats down. Lowering it 2x3 or 2x4 seeing your on the fence would be the best choice. With lowering you can expect better handling and slightly better mileage. Lifting, expect the opposite, worse mileage and handling. Lifted vehicles take a performance hit from rubber/rim diameter and weight. You need to upgrade the brakes and increase final ratio just to maintain the same performance you had stock. Doing that on a lowered truck will make it better than stock.
Heres a couple lowered trucks from the Visitors Parking area of my site
Mine with Belltech 2x4 lowering

Darrens 2x4

Georges 2x4

Herbs 3x4

There are pictures of my truck with the 2 inch lowering shackles on the rear on my website. There are before and after pics so you know what to expect if you go that route. RM Indys website also has some badass pics of lowered rams on it. I love the look of his truck with the 2-4 drop. I think i am gonna go with that.
i know plenty of farmers that have aquired 2X4 trucks and use them offroad all the time and just add a lift kit and offroad/studded tires (strictly offroad use) and bounce around the feilds and barnyard...and work quite well.... when i milked (back in highschool) the farm that i worked for had 2 chevys and 1 ford and all of them were 2X4 trucks picked up cheep from a police auctions... summer vacation the owner bought lifts for all of them and wicked nasty tires (cheepest boggers he could find) and we installed everthing... worked like a charm... then again we didnt do any mud holin or rock climing but they went through some wicked nasty fields and a few reviens (lunch breaks
) even if your truck is a 2X4 you dont have to rule out a lift and offroad tires for the look of it... and hell itll perform better offroad then the stocktires and ridehight
then again layin rocker on a 2gen bagged and c-notched running 1/2 dumps would be quite nasty

I have to admit, the 2/4 drop locks good. Still has usable suspension. If you are not going to far off the flat mud/dirt, leave it down. The shots Indy put in with the 2/4 drop are sharp.
If you want to follow the crew in the backroads, raise it and put a posi in the rear and have a North Carolina 4X. No offense guys.
My last 2WD,I left as it was, But the bodystyle looked better raked on the Ford.
Indy, the truck with HP Indy on the plate looks like the right front wheel is tilted in. Maybe just an illusion.

It is tilted in, both wheels are. Their on bags
I'm still on the fence lol. I think I'll worry about suspension after I get a posi put in the rear...
Anyone know of a good place to get a posi rear end? Would any shop put those in for me if i bought it? (I dont wanna grenade my rear end before getting out the drive lol)

The rear you have is good for normal driving. Then again a posi will keep you from getting pulled up the boat ramp.[sm=laughat.gif] That sucks. The posi will definately help in snow and with the upgrades it sounds like you are going to make to fight the rice burners. I have been recomending DTS http://www.drivetrainspecialists.com/
They have competetive prices and a good selection. I got the Trutrac since I pull a heavy trailer and didn't want a clicking locker. You will need a posi unit, and install kit depending on if you get a complete unit or a powertrax kit. Might as well spend another 180 for new gears while it's apart. Check around with local shops for the install price. They might can get a good deal on the parts also.
Indy might have some good/better recomendations for high perfomance use.

Should i go with a higher gear ratio then? (4.10, 4.55's) . I know a lot about engines but once you get beyond the flywheel and onto the transmission I'm lost...
Well not completly, I know about u-joints hehe... Having to replace a set myself, which sucked

All depends on if you go up or go for the look Indy has. Need to determine what size tire(diameter), you will go with first. 3.70? to 4.10 will get you moving faster, but on the highway will use more gas. Unless you go to 35" tires or strictly street/drag racing, no 4.56's.
