I think maybe I have found a truck
I found this truck on ebay and it seems like a really good deal. it has 20 hours left on the auction and so I don't know what is gonna happen yet. My plan is to wait until the auction is over and (if it doesn't sell) drive up to missouri and look at the truck and hopefully buy it. Hopefully...
Check it out and let me know what you think. Its a 2001 Reg Cab 4X4 sport w/36,900 miles for 10,800

It looks like a nice truck. I especially like that color blue. The only thing I would say is try to get him to drop the price. 11 grand seems like a lot for a regular cab, even with those miles. Plus, most people use ebay as a last resort, so he is probably anxious to sell. Good luck with it and let us know what happens.
For starters, that's a very nice truck and it's decently priced. I'd check the KBB on it for sure, and since he's got new tires, bed liner, tow package on it...I dont see a problem with that kind of price. I paid $14,500 for a similarly decked out 4x2 01 Clubcab Dakota....but the value on the truck at the time was about 2500 more then I paid for it.
While people who put stuff on eBaY sometimes are indeed using it for a last resort, there's also not always a market month to month for certain vehicles. Depending on the time of year, it can influence what people want. This guy may not have been able to sell it just because of that fact.
If you are really, really interested in the truck, you might consider offering say $10,300 and stating that you can have it off his property in say 48 hours. Sometimes thats even more of an incentive.
You've been without a Dodge for a while now....

The thing I dont get is all the rust on the undercarriage... I mean it may be mud but I dunno... for a 2k1 with 36 thats a lot..
My truck had 65k , lived in Panama City FL (Salt water spray rusts things for MILES) and was a 2k1 and the undercarriage is superior...
Then again, in missouri theres salt in the winter time... Grr...
Overall, Not bad, 11k is a little much, but I did pay 13,500 for mine that had 65k 2001 model 5.2 ... Ext cab with a tool box and diamond plate rails, and What I believe is a flowmaster 50 series exhaust... Cant tell because the writing on the muffler is towards the bed... argh...
But yeah not bad overall.

The V10 I have now I bought from a dealer in Florida. It was originally titled in Oregon for 2 years, and then in Florida (Tampa Bay...right next to the wonderful gulf [:'(]) for the rest of it's life, and it has less rust on it than what I see there [&:]
It's true that Missouri has salt in the winter, but depending on where it is in Missouri it might not have seen much snow at all. And if the truck only has 36k on it, they must all be winter miles to be rusted that bad [>:] We drive our 01 Intrepid in the winter...on the salty highway. It has 42k on it and there's not a spot of rust anywhere.
That's something that would turn me off to the truck, but maybe that's because I live up in the snowbelt and have already lost two vehicles to cancerous rust.

11k is also a little high considering all the little things wrong with it. From the looks of it, there is a fair amount of scratches on it, as well as that rust around the door handle. Makes me wonder how rusty the bottom of the door is on the INSIDE. They do tend to rust from the inside out. [>:]
I'd see if you can get him down to 10k...though that would be hard if the bidding goes higher than that.
Pretty nice ride. Are you sure thats what you want though? I know last time you posted you wanted a 2wd hemi. I wouldnt even consider it if your just trying to get a truck now. You'll just end up disappointed.

I would like to have a 2wd hemi but I can't find a decent deal on one around here. The market is really good on these trucks right now and the prices are outrageous. The 2nd gen Dodges...well the market isn't as good because of the gas mileage.
What could I do about the rust if I did get this truck?

I almost bought a brand new truck last year while all the incentives were going on. The one I almost got after looking closely had rust underneath everywhere there wasn't paint. Even the antenea base and shocks were starting to show rust. Checked out the sticker and it had been at a dealer in Michigan, on the East side of the lake. Geographics and weather can make a difference. My 97 wasn't much worse than the new one. Sure wish I had it undercoated when newer. Have been cleaning it up and undercoating a section at a time. Time consuming but looks better.
